Dal Vada, also known as Masala Vada, are savoury, spicy, crunchy fritters popular on South Indian streets. It is gluten-free and vegan.
Ingredients
🔸️1 Cup Chana Dal
🔸️1 Tsp Fennel Seeds
🔸️A Small Piece Of Cinnamon
🔸️2 Cloves
🔸️4 Red Chilli
🔸️Salt - 1/2 Tsp
🔸️1 Onion
🔸️3 Cloves Garlic
🔸️1 Piece Ginger
🔸️2 Green Chilli
Method
🔸️ Wash and soak chana dal in water for 2 hours.Separately, take around two spoonfuls of soaked chana dal and set aside.
🔸️ In a blender jar, combine the soaked chana dal, fennel seeds, cinnamon, cloves, red chilies, and salt. Then, add the leftover chana dal to the container and grind once more.
🔸️ To the roughly ground chana dal mixture, add the reserved chana dal, onion, garlic, ginger, green chilies, curry leaves, and coriander leaves. Combine thoroughly.
🔸️ Make vadas with the vada mixture. In a kadai, heat enough oil for deep frying and place the vadas in it.
🔸️ Fry until golden brown, then transfer to a dish.
🔸️Top with fried curry leaves and serve immediately with coconut chutney and sauce.
